The first stop, halfway down the drive-way is the MacLeod House & Lodge. MacLeod House is the main house on site where you would check-in on arrival. This opulent 5-Star boutique hotel offers a variety of luxurious guest rooms, intimate bar area and fine dining facilities.
There is also the Lodge (pictured above), which is a block of “town house” style country cottages that again offer very luxurious guest accommodation.
That brings me onto the golf course…and what a golf course it is! I was expecting a lot, but it exceeded all of my high expectations. There are many teeing options to play from to suit all ability levels, i chose to play from the Black tees because i wanted to test myself and i do love a challenge! The course from the Black tees measures 7428yrds Par 72.
It goes without saying that Trump Scotland is without doubt the toughest examination of golf I’ve ever had….but my most enjoyable one at the same time! The course asks you every question imaginable, it tests you to the limit, but its such a pleasure to be out there. The course is absolutely stunning, just to be there to appreciate the golf course and to take in the surrounding views was an absolute pleasure!
There are also “Tour-Standrad” practice facilities to enjoy, the driving range, short game areas and putting green would grace any professional tournament anywhere in the world. The recently opened clubhouse offers a well stocked shop selling all the main golfing brands, the clubhouse restaurant offers quality food and drink as well as showing live sport on the numerous tv screens, the Locker Rooms are also modern and luxurious.
You can tell a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of Trump Scotland to guarantee all facilities are fit for modern-day purpose. There is no doubt in my mind it will fast become a “modern-day great” the golf course has all the right ingredients, it can be set-up as tough as you want it to play. Playing from the championship tees, its plenty long enough for the modern day players. The test the course presents, coupled with the world class facilities, definitely makes it “future-proof” and a venue I’m sure would do “The Open” or “The Ryder Cup” justice in the near future. There have been many compliments from numerous “Tour-Players” that have played the course, which is also an encouraging sign. Here’s a nice touch (below pic) from Justin Rose which is on display in the Gents Locker Room.
Finally, i was obviously highly impressed with every aspect of Trump Scotland, it surpassed all of my high expectations whilst remaining very good value for money at the same time. It’s well worth visiting if you haven’t already.
