Jamie Donaldson booked his place at the Masters and The Open next year after clinching a three shot victory at the Thailand Golf Championship.
Donaldson fired a sublime 65 (-7) to overhaul third round leader Clement Sordet, while Lee Westwood closed with a 67 (-5) to snatch a tie for 2nd, which is expected to secure his return to Augusta National in April.

Lee Westwood expressed his delight at extending his run of Open Championship appearances after earning one of the four qualifying places on offer this week.
Donaldson and Westwood also ensured they would return to the world’s top 50 and ensure their places at the Masters in April, while Clement Sordet and 16 year-old wonder-kid Phachara Khongwatmai landed the other two Open Championship places.
The Thailand Golf Championship is fast becoming known for its strong world-class field, notable names in attendance this year were: Jamie Donaldson, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Sergio Garcia, Byeonghun An, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Martin Kaymer, Matthew Fitzpattrick, Bubba Watson, Nicolas Colsaerts. I’ve often wondered how they assemble such a strong field, this close to Xmas in such a far away location, with a moderate official prize fund? The answer is….appearence money, and plenty of it. The Thailand Golf Championship is rumoured to pay out the highest amount of player appearance money of any event.
