Alfie Plant – Wednesday Practice Round with Russell Henley – The Open.

Alfie Plant played his Practice Round today at Royal Birkdale with PGA Tour player, Russell Henley.

Alfie’s game looked very solid today along side Russell Henley, he more than matched up to the 3-time PGA Tour winner (World No53) who’s currently 16th in the 2017 FedEx Cup rankings.  From watching the two players inside the ropes, their game’s were quite similar, they were hitting the ball similar distances and were both very accurate tee to green.

Alfie feels good about his game ahead of tomorrow’s opening round, Royal Birkdale fits his eye, its a course he feels at home on and he’s looking forward to the challenge.  Alfie enjoys the challenges of links golf, he plays a lot of Amateur events on links courses, he won the Lytham Trophy in 2016 (played at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s Golf Club) by 7 shots against a world class field.

Russell Henley was very complimentary towards Alfie, he was impressed by his overall game and wished him well for the week.

There was plenty of #TeamAlfie supporters out on the course today, there’s a large following expected to arrive at Royal Birkdale tomorrow morning.  I’m sure there will be quite an atmosphere on the 1st tee at 9.14am for Alfie’s opening tee shot.
